Georgia Universities Aim to Improve Campus Safety
ATLANTA — The Atlanta-based University System of Georgia (USG) Campus Safety and Security Committee — co-chaired by Presidents Steve Dorman of Georgia College & State University and G.P. “Bud” Peterson of the Georgia Institute of Technology — published its May 19 report on the state of campus security across Georgia colleges and universities. The report outlined the USG’s plans to institute a broad safety initiative in the coming year and to provide incoming freshmen across all 30 campuses with mandatory sexual-assault training.

PORTLAND, Ore. — The 650,000-square-foot Collaborative Life Sciences Building & Skourtes Tower (CLSB) — which combines the research of Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU), Oregon State University and Portland University into one location — recently earned three industry awards for its sustainable design. Los Angeles-based and locally based SERA Architects worked together on the design.
Marquette University Expands to Milwaukee鈥檚 Global Water Center
MILWAUKEE — Marquette University in Milwaukee will be the final tenant in the city’s Global Water Center, a collaborative water-industry consortium located in Milwaukee’s Walker’s Point neighborhood. The university recently announced that it plans begin building out the center’s last unoccupied floor this summer. Upon completion, Marquette University will join a number of other research facilities, firms and accelerator spaces for emerging water-related companies working to advance water science, conservation and innovation.

Wyoming Receives School Facilities Management Award
CHEYENNE, Wyo. — The Cheyenne-based Wyoming School Facilities Department (SFD) was recently honored with the prestigious AssetWorld Achievement Award for innovative use of facilities management technologies. The award was presented on April 23 during the AssetWorld annual conference in Atlanta.
