Fort Rucker to Construct New Elementary School

FORT RUCKER, Ala. — Plans to replace Fort Rucker Elementary School — part of the Fort Rucker Army Base — are underway now that Orlando, Fla.-based SchenkelShultz has been selected as the project’s architect. SchenkelShultz was awarded the 133,542-square-foot project under the firm’s Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Norfolk District.

National Public School Spending Up Slightly

WASHINGTON — Public school systems spent slightly more on students during 2013 versus 2012, according to released in June by the U.S. Census Bureau.

Per-pupil spending for the nation reached $10,700 during fiscal year 2013, a 0.9 percent increase from 2012, but varied heavily from state to state.

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Due to severe overcrowding and the inability to expand in its current home, the Lehigh Valley Dual Language Charter School (LVDLCS) is currently seeking approval from the Bethlehem Area School District in Bethlehem to move from 551 Thomas St. to the Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Arts building on East Broad Street. Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Arts plans to vacate its current building and move to a new facility this summer.

Arizona State Hits Law College Construction Milestone

PHOENIX — Nearly a year after Arizona State University (ASU) in Phoenix beginning construction on its new Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law and Arizona Center for Law and Society building, the campus community gathered again to mark the project’s topping out. The June 9 event was an important milestone for the 280,000-square-foot, $129 million facility, which will hold its first classes in August 2016.
