Paul Najar
Gafcon Inc., a San Diego-based construction management and consulting firm, recently hired Paul Najar as vice president and general counsel. In his new position Najar will build and maintain the legal infrastructure of Gafcon and its sister company, SharePoint360.


Nancy Hamilton, S.E., P.E., has joined HOK as the new director of engineering services. Based in Chicago, Hamilton leads the company’s mechanical, electrical and plumbing, and structural engineering group. She brings to HOK 24 years of experience, including leadership roles with Arup.
Messer Construction promotes Steve Eder as vice president of the company. In his new role, Eder will provide leadership for Cincinnati project operations and performance. A University of Cincinnati graduate, Eder joined Messer in 1979. His work over the years includes projects for Cincinnati Financial Corporation, Dearborn County Hospital, University Hospital, and Xavier University.
McCarthy Building Companies Inc. promoted Steve Poulin to project director for the education services business unit of the firm’s Southwest division. In this new position, Poulin will oversee K-12 projects in Arizona and foster collaboration with the owner, design team and subcontractors; serve as a liaison between the office and field team; champion job-site safety efforts and proactively manage project budgets and schedules.
Karen Sander was named as project designer at MKSD Architects, focused on sustainability. A LEED Green Associate, her experience includes work at Kutztown University and St. Luke’s Hospital and Health Network. Sander earned her bachelor’s degree in architecture from Penn State University.
Severtson Screens appointed Craig L. Shelley as the new chief executive officer of the company. With more than 30 years of experience in marketing and business development, Shelley has served as a corporate officer with several international companies and as a consultant in real estate franchising, banking, and insurance. Shelley earned his MBA degree in International Management.
Carl Hampson, AIA, LEED AP, was appointed as Cannon Design’s new associate principal. Throughout his 20-year career, Hampson worked in all aspects of project planning and design, including conceptual design and design development and construction documents.
Chris Narendorf, LEED AP, director of O’Connell Robertson’s San Antonio office, has been promoted to principal at the firm. Narendorf serves as the company’s education market leader for the South Texas region. He has more than 13 years of experience as a project manager and designer — 11 of which have been with O’Connell Robertson.
MKSD Architects promoted Christian Didra to project designer, where he continues his Intern Development Program with hopes of becoming a licensed architect. He placed second in lighting design competitions and his designs have been featured in the National Sustainable Design Expo in Washington D.C., as well as Philadelphia University’s Spirit of Innovation Gala. Previously, Didra worked for Bohlin Cywinski Jackson in Philadelphia.
Michael Weingartz, PE, LEED AP, director of mechanical and electrical engineering at SmithGroupJJR’s Detroit office, has been promoted to Vice President. During his 25-year career as a professional electrical engineer, he has provided the design of power distribution, security, lighting, fire alarm, life safety and communications systems. His responsibilities include work with Michigan State University and the University of Michigan.
