Omaha, Neb.-headquartered HDR recently announced that H. Michael Smith, AIA, LEED AP, has joined the firm as a director for HDR’s Education, Science, Tech (EST) program. He will lead the EST program in Charlotte, N.C.; Atlanta; Tampa, Fla.; Dallas and Houston, and will develop and nurture strong relationships with clients and institutions across the academic, science and technology sectors.

McGrath brings more than 35 years of experience with a special focus on educational design. He has been instrumental in creating many notable school buildings, from K-12 to higher education and specialty learning environments.
Eric Feldman, AICP, is an urban planner who has been promoted to senior associate with the Washington office of landscape architecture, planning and urban design firm Rhodeside & Harwell. Feldman has experience ranging from land use planning, urban design and neighborhood revitalization to environmental impact analyses and public realm design.
Dewberry, a privately held professional services firm, announced the promotion of Tracy Coker, RID, LEED AP, to office director of the firm’s Peoria, Ill., office. Coker, an associate principal and senior designer, has been with Dewberry for more than 28 years. She specializes in interior design for higher education, justice, fitness and recreation, commercial and corporate facilities projects.
Jack Poulin recently joined ZGF’s Los Angeles office as an associate partner. Poulin is an interior designer with 20 years of experience on a diverse range of project types, including health care, higher education, sports and recreation, and corporate facilities for clients such as the University of California and California State University systems, Kaiser Permanente and Cedars-Sinai. Poulin is a certified interior designer and a LEED-accredited professional.
Kristine A. Harding, NCARB, AIA, was recently inaugurated as the 97th president of the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB). In this new role, Harding will lead NCARB and its 54 U.S. licensing boards, which serve more than 40,000 NCARB certified architects and 41,000 licensure candidates.
Gregory L. Erny, NCARB, AIA, was recently elected first vice president/president-elect of the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB). By virtue of his election, Erny will become NCARB president in July 2017. Erny was first appointed to the Nevada Board of Architecture, Interior Design and Residential Design in 1996, serving as chair from 2011-2013.
Dagher Engineering Principal Josephine Zurica has been named the 2016 American Council of Engineering Companies of New York New Principal of the Year for her significant contributions in the form of ideas and service to the consulting engineering community. Zurica is the first building systems engineer — and only the second woman — to receive this honor, granted since 2001 to a member who has been a principal for less than five years.
Barry Oliver, AIA, has joined Hastings+Chivetta Architects as a contract administrator. In his new role, Oliver will assist with the quality control review process and represent clients’ interests during construction. Oliver has developed a thorough knowledge of specifications, building codes and construction contracts as well as the design and construction process through his work as a contract administrator, architect and project manager for over 33 years.
