WDG Architecture of Washington has promoted Doug James, AIA, to associate principal. James serves as a project manager for design projects ranging from federal government headquarters to student housing, and offers experience that encompasses all phases of project delivery from initial concept design and programming through construction administration and final delivery. As a senior project architect, James is also a leader in WDG’s quality control and technical detailing group.
Geoffrey Doban, AIA, has joined award-winning, Brooklyn-based Doban Architecture as the firm’s new vice president. Doban brings with him nearly 30 years experience in program development, design, management and construction of large-scale and complex projects. Previously, he served as a partner at Gruzen Samton before the firm was acquired by IBI Group.
Louis E. Costanzo was recently promoted to president of Scranton, Ohio-based construction firm L.R. Costanzo Co. Inc. Costanzo received his master’s degree in business administration from Cornell University’s S.C. Johnson Graduate School of Management and a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Syracuse University.
The Council of Educational Facility Planners International (CEFPI) announced that Daniel R. Mader, AIA, CEFP, LEED AP, has been named the new chair of the organization’s board of directors. An architect with more than 35 years of experience in educational facility design, Mader is the chairman of the board of Fanning/Howey Associates.
BOKA Powell, a full-service architecture, planning and interior design firm with offices in Texas, including Fort Worth, Dallas and Austin, has hired Mark H. Dabney, AIA, to lead its growing Fort Worth practice. Dabney brings more than 25 years of architecture and interior design experience to his new role as associate principal, and most recently served as director of PBK’s Fort Worth office.
HGA Architects and Engineers has hired Celine Larkin, AIA, LEED AP, as associate vice president and senior planner in the Los Angeles office. Larkin will direct planning across HGA’s growing healthcare, higher education and public/corporate practice groups.
Michael Craig Smith, AIA, will serve as director of Hastings+Chivetta Architects’ new California office in Irvine, bringing with him 25 years of design and construction experience at California universities. Smith comes to Hastings+Chivetta from California State University at Fullerton where he completed more than 20 major capital projects worth a combined $500 million as the director of Design and Construction.
The International Living Future Institute announced the addition of Bob Berkebile to its team. Berkebile, an influential architect and green building pioneer, will serve as a senior strategic advisor to the institute in general and with the Living Product Challenge and Living Community Challenge specifically.
Sargent and Greenleaf Inc., a subsidiary of Stanley Security and a manufacturer of high security locks and locking systems for safes, vaults and high security cabinets, has appointed Brian Leary to chief operating officer. Leary most recently served as senior vice president for Reading Rock Inc., a manufacturer and distributor of concrete products.
KOBELCO Construction Machinery USA, which produces a full range of crawler excavators, announced the appointment of Matt Csoka as national account sales manager. Csoka brings more than 10 years of experience in diverse management roles. Most recently, he served as KOBELCO’s southeastern sales representative, in which he expanded KOBELCO’s distribution locations through dealer recruitment and development in the region.
