Dining Hall Renovation Lands LEED Silver


ANDOVER, Mass. — Phillips Academy, a residential secondary school, earned LEED Silver certification for the renovation of its 80-year-old dining hall, Paresky Commons.

Renovated over the course of 15 months, the Academy reused and recycled more than 90 percent of all construction debris and installed several energy-saving devices.

SPEARFISH, S.D. — Students will arrive back to school for the spring semester with a new $8 million Life Sciences Laboratory building open for research and instruction on the Black Hills State University campus.
 
The 26,000-square-foot, LEED-certified building is part of a $74.5 million state appropriations bill to upgrade laboratories at all state universities.

A Platinum Harvest at UC Davis

DAVIS, CALIF. — UC Davis’ new winery, brewery and food-processing complex received LEED Platinum certification, establishing it as the first university facility of its kind to receive the award.

The grand opening of the new $20 million, 34,000-square-foot teaching-and-research complex located within the Robert Mondavi Institute for Wine and Food Science is scheduled for January 28.

Chatham County Opens New Middle School

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — The Chatham County School District officially opened its newest school, Margaret B. Pollard Middle School, on January 3. The opening of the new campus allowed the 480 students and 50 faculty and staff members to reunite after being split between two schools while construction was completed.
 
The school district is actively pursuing LEED Gold certification for Margaret B.
